The chickens have reached their slaughter weight after approx. 35 days – all depending on which market they are to be sold to. Some require a weight of 1800 g, others 2100g. The chickens are therefore most often slaughtered when they are between 36 and 42 days old.
The slaughtering itself takes place by the chickens being hung up by the legs and immediately sedated so they are completely unconscious before they reach the slaughter machine. Immediately afterwards they are cleaned and cut up.
