The Danish chicken production begins with the parent generation, which are delivered as day-old chicks by international breeding companies. The hens begin to lay eggs when they are 22 weeks old and carry on until they are approx. 62 weeks old. Each hen lays 150-160 eggs in the course of the 40 weeks. The eggs are gathered twice a day, sorted, disinfected and stored climatically correct until they are transported to hatcheries three times per week.
